My Hanoi, Madrid, Seville, and Le Havre minimaps were featured in Get Lost!, as were the seasonal El Retiro maps I created and edited with illustrations by Victoria Fernández.
Explore the World in Map Illustrations
“Before GPS systems and Google Maps were invented, folded paper maps and guidebooks were always our trusty companions while on the road. While paper maps are becoming increasingly obsolete, there is more to cartography than just bearings and scales. Illustrated maps hone the ability to bring a place to life through vivid drawings, leaving a unique impression filled with the illustrator's own experiences.
From iconic landmarks to hidden shortcuts, GET LOST! takes readers on a journey by allowing them to explore new places through the eyes of illustrators.”

Collective Exhibition
“Since we opened in 2005, Mad is Mad has been chasing emerging utopias and dreams to bring them down to earth. Since we opened, we also wanted to create new iconic images for Madrid. And now, in February 2019, we have decided to throw the house out the window with this last objective, and that this house crosses the Puerta de Alcalá, goes up Gran Vía and Calle de Alcalá, settles in the Retiro and in the bear and the strawberry tree of the Puerta del Sol. Six artists present their special tributes to this city, with their styles and techniques. With their personal vision of Madrid.
Superminimaps and Victoria Fernández took part in the collective exhibition organized by Mad is Mad Gallery in Chueca: Mad Mad. Along with us, Ana Muñoz de Terry, Lorena Olmedo, Ana Jarén & Michael de Coca will also be showing their beautiful work.
Rafa Ruiz, of the Mad is Mad Gallery, was hoping to create some new iconic images for Madrid and at the same time pay a little tribute to this wonderful city we all call home.
We wanted to create a map for the wonderful green space that is 'El Retiro' Park in Madrid, an unmistakable icon, an essential green lung, an art space, a holder of legends, an inspiration, a muse, a refuge. In the process of making it we realized that the park is constantly changing throughout the year. In spring, when the birds return, people tend to go to the lake; summer is officially inaugurated with the Book Fair and is also the ideal time to visit the Rose Garden; and in the colder seasons, alternatives such as the Palacio de Cristal or the Florida Cafés are more desirable. There are as many parks as there are experiences, but we tried to capture at least four seasonal postcards for you.
